Autobiography
Hello, my name is Victor Melendez. I was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, but I was raised in
Cabo Rojo. I attended elemental, middle and high school in my hometown. At the age of 18, I joined the US ARMY and served for three years. During those three years, I did a one year tour in
South Korea. I got out of the Army in September 9, 2001.
In January of 2002, I began studies at the University of Puerto Rico. I graduated in May 2006 from Business Administration with a mayor in Human Resources.
In January 2007, I started working at the Department of Education of Puerto Rico as a teacher assistant for one year. Because of this experience, and after two years searching for an opportunity in my professional area of Human Resources, I decided to return to the university and make a career change to education.
In August 2011, while studying education, I started working with CREMPE. CREMPE is a federal program in Puerto Rico, created to help parents get involve in the learning process of their child or children. This job opened the door for me to go back to the university and get my Teacher's License. Since my motivation to become an English teacher is because I believe in the power of people, I'll like my students to be critical and analytical thinkers so they can become better citizens.
Actually, I am in Saint Petersburg, FL working my way out. My plans are to start teaching and be able to start my master degree in the Education field. I will love to become a TEACHER in the public system of Florida.
